In 1974, Hungarian professor Erno Rubik created a cube to teach students about three-dimensional spaces, quickly becoming popular beyond the classroom. He patented the Rubik's Cube, which became a global craze by the late 1970s. The cube is renowned for its problem-solving challenge and the intricate connection between the mind and hands. The classic 3x3 Rubik's Cube has 43 quintillion possible combinations, sparking competition to solve it rapidly. The current world record is just over three seconds. The cube remains a valuable tool for engaging minds and has sold hundreds of millions of units. Erno Rubik is confident in its lasting appeal for at least the next 50 years.
