NASA is launching the Artemis 2 mission, sending four astronauts on a 10-day journey around the moon, the first crewed lunar mission in over 50 years.
The crew will study human health in deep space and photograph the moon from close range, testing whether such journeys can be practical for future moon landings.
Artemis is a US-led programme with international contributions from Europe, Japan, Canada and the UAE.
The mission aims to pave the way for a lunar base and further deep-space exploration, as China also pursues crewed moon landings.
