Nearly a thousand Israeli Air Force reservists - most of them retired - have published a letter calling for the release of all remaining captives, even if it means ending the war on Gaza.
It says the war serves political and personal interests, not security.
It states that only a ceasefire will bring back the Israelis still held in the strip.
The reservists say military pressure leads to the killing of hostages and endangers soldiers.
The head of the Israeli Air Force announced that dozens of active reservists who signed the document would be dismissed.
In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Netanyahu’s office said the prime minister “backs the decision” of the defence minister and the Israeli military chief of staff “to dismiss those who signed the letter”.
The document, which ignited a political uproar in Israel, urged all Israeli citizens to demand an end to the war, warning that the bombardment of Gaza puts Israeli captives held in the enclave at risk.
