A military court in the Democratic Republic of Congo is trying 63 soldiers accused of deserting their posts in North Kivu’s Lubero territory. The army claims they abandoned their positions as M23 rebels advanced. The UN has reported human rights violations by the army, government-allied militias, and the M23 in eastern DRC.
