President Trump says the Mexican government has to stop illegal migrants arriving in the US or face tariffs on its exports.
But desperate families from across the Americas, continue to head through the country to try and reach the southern border.
Many jump on a cargo train, known as The Beast, to travel through Mexico.
Al Jazeera's John Holman joined some of them through the Guanajuato state.
