Nigeria has raised the retirement age for doctors from 60 to 65 to address severe staff shortages in hospitals. The move comes as an increasing number of medical personnel leave the country for better-paid jobs abroad, exacerbating the crisis. The World Health Organization recommends a doctor-to-patient ratio of 1 to 6,000, but in Nigeria, it stands at 1 to 10,000.
