Syrians returning home after nearly 14 years of war are facing a deadly threat; millions of landmines and unexploded munitions.
The Halo Trust, the world’s largest landmine clearance charity, says at least 285 people have been killed since the fall of the Assad regime in December.
That includes 57 children.
But the true number is believed to be far higher, as many cases go unreported.
The UN says a third of Syria’s population is affected by explosives contamination, with some of the highest risks in cities like Aleppo, Homs and Damascus.
Al Jazeera’s Osama Bin Javaid reports from Damascus, Syria.
